Forever Kids Kenya is a registered Swiss non-profit organization with the aim of promoting quality basic education among underprivileged kids in the slums of Kenya. Every child has the right to basic school education. Many kids are deprived of this human right due to a life in impoverished conditions and a lack of adequate infrastructure in their neighborhood. We are determined to help providing quality basic school education to these kids. By providing our expertise, financial and material support to a local slum school we help to increase the chances of kids from poor families to obtain a solid education and develop skills and knowledge, which allow them to take their future into their own hands.
Our organization was founded in spring 2013 by a group of friends and family members determined to support the president Nadja Kaufmann and her husband Mark Kelian Tipatet in establishing a much needed school in the Shauri Yako slum of Mombasa. Today (2019) the organization counts nine members in Switzerland, which are working on a voluntary and part-time basis.
Our Switzerland-based members are mainly involved in fundraising activities, finance, marketing, communication and the recruitment of volunteers. After a build up phase of 5 years the school has stabilized and the initiators of the school returned to Switzerland. In Kenya we have a local coordinator, who is supervising the school project and is regularly reporting to the plenum in Switzerland. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the “Milele Elimu Centre” is now attended by 280 kids, which are divided into two kindergarten classes and primary school grades from 1-8.
The plenum of our organization meets regularly to discuss and decide on further developments, project requests and fundraising activities. All administrative costs in Switzerland are completely shouldered by members themselves in order to guarantee that 100% of donations are reaching the kids in Kenya.
Mission
We enable children from poor backgrounds to receive basic school education and promote their creativity, social skills and support them for their further education and career opportunities.
Vision
Every child should have the opportunity to complete their basic school education and build a future for themselves. This perspective should be passed on from generation to generation.
