Merry Christmas!
December 24, 2018
Thanks to our ever generous donors Jonas Brauen, Sandro Steimer, Gerardo Palmisano & Nicolas Kleiner the Milele Elimu Centre with all its children and parents, as well as neighboring children, were able to forget any worries for one day and just come together to celebrate and feast on the coast's favourite dish: BIRYANI! Food, games, dancing, music and one of our teachers as MC who entertained everyone through the day!
Another unforgetful Christmas for the community and again we say a very big THANK YOU to our above mentioned donors!

Christmas present
December 6, 2018
Christmas is approaching and we'll help you find a gift 😊✨🎄🎁
Donate CHF 30.00 for a complete set of books for one child and support yourself or on behalf of a friend our children from the Milele Elimu Centre in Mombasa, Kenya.
The donations will be used to finance new book sets for the entire school, which are no longer up to date due to changes in the school system throughout the country and therefore all need to be replaced.
How can you donate? It's very simple! Send us an email with the subject "Christmas Gift" and your full contact details to foreverkidskenya@hotmail.com and let us know how much you would like to contribute for the schoolbook renewal.
If you would like to donate on behalf of a loved one, please let us know the full name of that person and your own name and we will email you a Christmas Gift Certificate.
We thank you already for your donation, with which you can give the children in Mombasa a huge joy by simply letting them go to school 😊
Thank you ~ Ahsante sana!! 👏🎉❤️

Reunion after almost 1 year!
November 12, 2018
Nadja: "The school after almost 1 year again to visit was incredibly beautiful, I have only really noticed how much I missed all! The children, the employees, the parents and even the neighbourhood. I am so happy that I was able to spend time with my Kenyan family and can't wait to spend our next moments together again!
Nadja & Mark were in Mombasa, Kenya last October and spent the last week of the year at the Milele Elimu Centre. They spent the last highlights of the year with everyone in the school, starting with the match day, continuing to the final day of the kindergarten classes and parent day, then to the prayer day of the 8th class (final class) and finally the "pre-Christmas" celebration with all employees, where a goat was slaughtered to the great joy of all involved!

Volunteer Antonia
October 20, 2018
A rapid Bodaboda ride through Nyali was the beginning of every school day in Milele. This fifteen-minute adrenaline-impression cocktail with a 'good morning' and a nice chat with the 'bike-driver', a horn concert on the ears, passing impressions, funny, frightening, threatening, exciting and beautiful, outside at the refreshing sea air of Mombasa, in the exhaust steam of the big city.
As an introduction to the day ahead, perfect! The first days in Milele were as unpredictable as my way to school, packed with impressions. ‘Let's see what will happen next' was my motto, which turned out to be extremely profitable...
The first days at school I had enough time to arrive, to orientate myself and to settle in slowly to the Milele community. Everyday school life in Milele is well organized and well clocked. From 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. all the children, as well as the teachers, have their place and their tasks. In the beginning it seems difficult to find a place as a newcomer in this routine school life and to get involved. But thanks to the great support of Joe, Mr. Godfrey, Mama Elminah and all the teachers, my questions and worries were clarified immediately and after a short time I became a permanent part of the school. Quickly it became clear: everything can, nothing must!
Teaching my subjects (math and physics) in English was a new experience for me, and the different language levels of the students also presented me with new challenges during the teaching. The equipment of the school is sparse by European standards, but completely sufficient. With a little creativity and spontaneity, a lot can be achieved and there is no shortage of children and young people who are enthusiastic about activities of all kinds and eager to follow the lessons!
In addition to technical lessons, I have tried to teach children (and teachers) how to do handicrafts and painting in 'crative arts' lessons. It gave me a lot of pleasure to do handicrafts with the students, although the highlight of the children was rather the final photo after the lesson than the proper work with paints, scissors and paper :)
While the older students still have lessons or homework to do in the afternoon, their younger siblings have a safe place to play in the schoolyard of Milele, romp around, just being a child. I also come to play a part in that. I quickly found my place, because the PP1 children love to play memory. And so do I!
Accompanying the music and dance group to the municipal music competition, swimming lessons, christmas card project, school shopping with Elminah at the market of Kongowea, geography project with the 8th class...everything can, nothing must!
I enjoyed every day in school! Probably also the interesting conversations with the teachers, the chatting in the office or lunch with Mr. Godfrey and Joe made my stay unique!
Thank you Forever Kids Kenya Team, Thank you Joseph and Nadja for the personal attention, Thank you Milele Elimu Centre!
Your Antonia

Music festival 2018
October 2, 2018
The Kenya Music and Drama Festival is a program under the Ministry of Education that promotes artistic talents in music and drama. Some of the participants were able to contact producers after school and make a career through their talents. The current educational reforms in Kenya over the past two years have recommended that creative arts subjects be included as verifiable subjects in the curriculum, so that those with talents can practice art as a profession.
The Milele Elimu Centre was fortunate enough to be able to attend the regional level in the city of Voi from 4 to 5 July. The journey to Voi began by train on the Mombasa-Nairobi railway line. For most children it was the first time to ride a train or even to see one. Because of the distance, two nights were spent in the city of Voi. MEC was able to secure the accommodation, all meals and necessary preparations for the team and 69 children.
Four performances were presented; Dance, two French poems and an English poem. The dance team has proceeded to the national level. It took place at August 6-8 in the city of Embu, about 120km from Nairobi in the direction of Mount Kenya. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances MEC couldn’t participate this year.
Nevertheless, we are very proud and wish you much success for the next year.

Thank you secondary classes Niederweningen!
July 16, 2018
A very big THANK YOU goes out to the Secondary Classes of Niederweningen and the leading project teacher Peter Derks! After a regular exchange through penpals of both schools in Switzerland and Kenya, the Secondary Classes have independently organised a fundraising in combination with their annual social school project for our children of the Milele Elimu Centre. In several small groups they came up with their own ideas and implemented them. The proceeds of the fundraising goes to our school and will enable us to realize several important and also exciting projects in Mombasa.
The outcome of the fundraising makes us speechless! That's why we prefer to show you in pictures. Kids of the Milele Elimu Centre, what are you saying thank you for...?

A loud "YES" for the kids in Kenya
May 28, 2018
On May 19 Daniela and Stefan gave each other the word of consent in Baar ZG. On their special day, the wedding couple thought selflessly of the welfare of the students of our slum school in Mombasa. So they kindly offered to donate the church collection to our association Forever Kids Kenya. Thanks to the loose-fitting wallet of the generous wedding party, a considerable amount of money was collected in favor of the school. The wedding couple has generously rounded up this amount.
Dear Daniela, dear Stefan, thank you very much for this generous gesture! We wish the newlyweds all the best, good luck and love on their future path together.
Forever Kids Kenya members visit our partner school

Acrobatics
March 7, 2018
Our kids love learning in school. Books are (almost) everything! But they also love the out of class activities, and specially the acrobatics club is quite popular among the boys. Wanna see what they do? How they practice? What skills are needed? See for yourself!

Playtime
February 13, 2018
In Kenya, studies are taken very seriously, but from time to time we also encourage creativity and playing! The children have a welcoming change to the daily routine and obviously enjoy the play time, especially with the newly learned card games.

Computer lessons
February 1, 2018
Last year we received a generous donation: a set of laptops for our children. This donation was realized thanks to Marco Erni from the Schools of Niederrohrdorf, Switzerland. With the big number of laptops two or three children can actively share a laptop per class. The "dry" theory lessons from last year are finally over, now the children can use their knowledge in the practical part and curiously try out the wonder thing computer. And with the possibility of using the internet, another new world opens up for our children. What a joy! We are very thankful for this opportunity!

The new year starts with fresh wind
January 3, 2018
The new school year begins with a fresh wind! With a name change from "Milele Education Centre" to "Milele Elimu Centre" we want to tie ourselves stronger to our roots, with Elimu meaning Education in our local language Kiswahili. The change of name was a necessary step towards completing the national registration of our school. The new year also starts with a new introduction: our long time friend Joseph Muli is the new representative and director of our school in Mombasa, while Mark Kelian and Nadja Kaufmann will continue their supportive work from abroad. All in all we have grown a lot, are stronger than ever and very ready for the new school year to start! Welcome everybody and a happy new year!
